Electric surface/trace heating (heat tracing) is the application of a compensating heat source to a pipe; surface or vessel, to maintain a specified temperature. Heat tracing systems (brand name hotway heat tracer, which we offer, are used in food processing plants, chemical industry, and shipment industry. Heat tracer replaces the losses of heat from a surface, to allow temperature maintenance of the product, which thermal insulation alone cannot maintain. Thermal insulation is recommended on all applications. Without the insulation surface, heat losses can increase approx. 4-5 times.

Hotway thermal technology constant wattage heat trace cables are ideally suited for applications where a particular watt density is required at all times. Constant wattage cables are flexible and can be cut-to-length in the field. Although not suited for overlapping, its constant output makes it an ideal choice for higher temperature applications where higher watt densities are required. Hotway thermal technology constant wattage heating cable is designed for use on 120 to 480v and withstands temperatures to 392 °f (200 °c). Equipped with a ground braid and optional fep jacket, hot way tech constant wattage cables are third party tested and approved for use in harsh corrosive and hazardous area applications
A) the heating cable shall consist of two 14 AWG nickel-plated copper bus wires, embedded in a self-regulating polymeric core that controls power output so that the cable has a temperature identification number (t-rating), without the use of thermostats
B) the heating cable shall have a tinned copper braid with a resistance less than 8 mω/ft as determined by the metallic covering conductivity test (IEEE 515-1997 test 4.1.13). The braid may be protected from chemical attack and mechanical abuse by an optional fluoropolymer outer jacket.
C) in order to provide rapid heat-up and to prevent overheating of fluid
The self-regulating index is the rate of change of power output in watts per degree Fahrenheit or watts per degree celsius, as measured between the temperatures of 50°f (10°c) and 200°f (93°c) and confirmed by the type test and published datasheets. D) in order to facilitate longer circuit lengths and smaller breaker sizing. The heating cable shall have the following maximum inrush current at 50°f (10°c).
